We are the largest community within CSIRO, with members in all work areas.
Our cause is to protect and progress the interests of our members in CSIRO and in society. We do this as the democratic voice for staff. We advocate for CSIRO and science. We promote a community of staff in CSIRO so that we can assist members to enforce their rights.
The Staff Association is a section of the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU).
The CPSU represents thousands of Australian scientists and researchers working in the federal public sector for organisations such as CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, the Australian Institute of Marine Science and Defence Science and Technology. The CSIRO Staff Association is not affiliated with any political party.
Staff Association members are represented at each site by colleagues elected as workplace delegates for a 12 month term.
The CSIRO Staff Association is managed by a Council and Executive elected from CSIRO workplaces every three years. The President and Secretary represent Staff Association members on CPSU Governing Council.
The CSIRO Staff Association is a section of the CPSU (PSU Group) and is governed by the rules of that organisation. These rules are registered with the Registered Organisations Commission and can be viewed here (Chapter A) and here (Chapter B) If you have any questions about the current rules please contact us at csstaff@cpsu.org.au.
