The Staff Association is encouraging delegates to create and commission union communications to share stories, experiences and lessons from CSIRO workplaces.

To assist delegates in designing and producing content, we’ve put together a few template examples and instructions to get those creative ideas flowing and connect with your audience.

Resources available for delegates include:

Communications policy

With all authorised Staff Association communications, it’s important that content developed by delegates follow a process and secure appropriate authorisation before distribution consistent with the union’s privacy policy.

 

  • Editing – The Staff Association will assist delegates to ensure the timely design, development, authorisation and distribution of content. Review and editing of content developed by delegates will be conducted by the union sensitive to the concept and context of the original design or brief.
  • Timeframes – When commissioning work or submitting drafts for editing, please include an estimated time of delivery and distribution of the approved content. Please note that in addition to reasonable time needed for editing and approval, there may be circumstances where other Staff Association communications (for example all member distributions) may take priority.
  • Authorisation – All union communications that carry the CSIRO Staff Association logo require the approval and authorisation of the Secretary prior to distribution and dissemination.
  • Privacy – Approved Staff Association communications should be distributed consistent with the union’s privacy policy. The enterprise agreement states that the role of union delegates will be respected and facilitated, however remember that the email system is the property of CSIRO. Please use discretion when emailing a group of colleagues – especially a large list including the addresses of non-members – and use the blind carbon copy (bcc) function to protect the privacy of recipients.
  • Feedback – from time to time, some of your colleagues may wish to opt out of receiving communications from the Staff Association. If someone asks to opt out please ensure you let your organiser so we can update our system to reflect the request.

Meet the delegate poster 

This is an editable poster (word document) that can be customised with a photo of the workplace delegate.

It’s an easy way to build the awareness of the Staff Association in the workplace.

  • Approval: Pre-approved for insertion of delegate photo and details (name, contact information). Any Additional copy changes require written approval from the Secretary before distribution and use.
  • Photo size: For optimal printing display, no smaller than 1240 x 1754 px at 300 dpi.
  • Instructions: Download and save editable document > Insert picture from file > Select saved photo > Then rotate and crop delegate photo to fit into Polaroid design shape > Update delegate name and contact information in the editable copy > Save document in word and save a copy as PDF.
  • Printing: Save word document as PDF before printing > Print > Select paper size > colour options > Quantity > Print PDF **Print page 1 only for use as display poster

Short break poster 

This is an editable poster (word document) that can be customised with event details.

Suitable for morning or afternoon tea event. Take a short break to discuss workloads, wellbeing and workplace health and safety.

  • Approval: Pre-approved for changes to event details. Additional copy changes require written approval from the Secretary before distribution and use.
  • Instructions: Download and save editable document > Update copy with event details including date, time, venue, special instructions or RSVP information> Save document in word and save a copy as PDF.
  • Printing: Save word document as PDF before printing > Print > Select paper size > colour options > Quantity > Print PDF **Print page 1 only for use as display poster
