Dear Susan,
I’d like to join the CSIRO Staff Association’s HSR Safety First Network. I’m a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) elected under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) by workers in my work group, as specified in this form.
With this letter I’m asking for assistance from the Community and Public Sector Union (CSIRO Section) under s.68(2)(g) of the WHS Act to perform my HSR role, including when exercising powers and functions as an HSR in accordance with the WHS Act.
In addition to the assistance needed from time to time I would like the CPSU to provide me with the following assistance that I believe necessary for me to perform my functions:
*Opportunities to consult and discuss health and safety issues with the CPSU and other HSRs
*Regular opportunities for me to receive information and technical advice on health and safety matters relevant to workers, including via Webinars, phone conferences and workplace visits
*Opportunity to consult and discuss health and safety issues with subject matter experts such as Safe Work Australia and Comcare, and professionals on specific health and safety matters
*Access to advice and assistance when exercising HSR powers and functions. For example when conducting, inspections and inquiring into potential health and safety risks to workers, monitoring compliance of the PCBU to WHS Act and Regulations, and investigating worker complaints on health and safety matters.
*Advice on accredited health and safety training courses
*Support when representing workers on work health and safety matters in the workplace, including attendance at health and safety committees.
