Each February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is observed by the United Nations, highlighting that science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals.
Dr Wilna Vosloo is a senior principal research scientist at the CSIRO-Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness in Geelong, Australia. For the last thirty years her research has focused on transboundary animal diseases including foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and African swine fever.
Wilna has over 80 scientific publications covering aspects of diagnostics, vaccine efficacy and epidemiology, serves as an international member of the World Organisation for Animal Health FMD ad hoc Group on the Evaluation of FMD Status of Member Countries, the Executive Committee of the Global FMD Research Alliance, the Vaccine Expert Advisory Group and the Vaccine Bank Contract Committee in Australia.
