Member consultation on an Enterprise Agreement (EA) proposal will begin on Monday, after all bargaining representatives arranged for the proposal to be sent to the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) for assessment.
The EA proposal is a result of intensive negotiations by the Staff Association since November last year. The proposal contains 83 agreed in principle clauses, 14 of which are improvements to clauses from the current EA.
Ten clauses remain not agreed, with the four main unresolved issues being pay, superannuation, postdoctoral conditions and market related employment.
The Staff Association’s analysis document details the status of each EA clause and schedule.
Decision time for members
Over the next fortnight, the Staff Association will be consulting with all members via video conference meetings, to get feedback on the overall proposal and specific issues.
An online poll will enable members to direct Staff Association representatives in the next steps in the bargaining process. This includes whether to recommend that CSIRO staff vote YES or NO in the event that this proposal is put to an all staff ballot in May.
In coming days, look out for meeting invitations from your Staff Association organiser or delegate. The Staff Association will be releasing more detailed information on the EA proposal as part of the meetings and through updates on our campaign page.
Government wage freeze
As reported Thursday 9 April, the Federal Government announced a temporary wage freeze to apply to all Commonwealth workers including at CSIRO. The effect will be that the first pay rise of a new CSIRO EA will not occur when the EA commences in November 2020, but will be delayed until May 2021.
The wage freeze does not impact on the timing of the second and third pay rises of a new EA or on salary increases through performance and development steps and other rewards.
