Startup company Eden Brew has announced a partnership with New South Wales dairy cooperative Norco and the CSIRO to develop animal-free milk. Eden Brew has used CSIRO technology to produce a “brew” in the lab that can be used in a traditional dairy processing plant to produce something that looks and functions just like cow’s milk – ABC online, 29 July 2021.
Unions have responded to new report findings of abundant offshore wind resources by urging governments to take action and support the offshore wind industry. The last month has seen lethal, and often unprecedented, extreme weather across the Northern Hemisphere. Climate scientists say human-driven changes to the atmosphere have made events like these more likely, but how much any specific event can be attributed to human activity remains debated. In a breakthrough development, Quasar Satellite Technologies will use phased array technology to communicate with hundreds of satellites at once. CSIRO developed the technology for its ASKAP radio telescope, a precursor to the SKA – DISER media release, 26 July 2021.
